There’s nothing more delicious than a tropical fruit smoothie. Yet smoothies are also very nutritious. In essence, they contain the vitamins and phytochemicals necessary for maintaining good health.
Experts say that enjoying a fruit smoothie is one way to ensure you are consuming your daily fruit requirement. Their high-fiber content even makes them great meal replacement options for breakfast or lunch. Besides that, according to nutritionist Joy Bauer, drinking regular fruit smoothies can contribute to weight loss if made with low-fat ingredients like skim, soy or almond milk. She says using higher calorie ingredients like whole milk can also aid in weight gain for underweight individuals.
How to make a tropical fruit smoothie:
The key to creating that tropical fruit smoothie flavor is a ripe banana. Making a good smoothie is also about balancing the taste with its texture. Essentially, the fruits contribute to the taste and texture of the smoothie; however, you may also add ground flax seed, wheat germ or even vitamin C powder for added texture as well as nutrients. For added flavor, you may also add organic vanilla extract, cinnamon, or natural sweeteners like, brown sugar, organic honey or agave nectar.
